Cranesbill

Geranium
Cranesbills are a great bunch of plants for the shade garden. Most are mounding or spreading in habit while a couple are upright plants of modest height. They flower in the white to pink to purple range with a few approaching true blue. 'Johnson's Blue' tends to be a little sprawly so I've relocated it to a spot among some hostas where it can mingle and show off its flowers next to the hostas' leaves.
The plant shown here is G. sanguineum var. striatum, a variety of bloody cranesbill. It's a young plant and hasn't flowered a lot yet for me. It's a much tighter mound than 'Johnson's Blue' and has light pink flowers with darker streaks on the petals.
