Siberian CypressMicrobiota decussata
Siberian Cypress, Microbiota decussata, makes a good substitute for junipers in a shade garden. They don't thrive in really deep, dry shade, but perform acceptably in low light. It's a needle-leaved evergreen that only grows about a foot high but can spread to six feet or more in the shade. It's also very hardy as it originates from high in the mountains of Russia.
