What traits do "good" services exhibit
Keep information in the registry
Technically, all Win32 apps should do this
Event logging
Since there's no user interface
Demands a resource DLL with all your strings
Can be used to trigger SNMP alerts
Publishing of performance data
Time metrics
Resource metrics
Very horrendous (DLL full of callback functions)
Control Panel or MMC interface
These are the standards that Microsoft advises
MMC is preferred, but much more complex
Lots of services come with little applets to control them
Meet "Designed for BackOffice" logo requirements
